Make up & Costume
For my group’s trailer we have decided to keep our trailer quite simple we feel that the less busy it is the more of an effect it will have. I have done research into what kind of make and costumes’ should be used as a film genre is psychological horror. I have started to look at what type of costumes will go well with our trailer, we will be using one main girl who is to portray a killer and this is our main focus for costume and makeup as this will be the most important actor in our trailer.
Our main character being a dark skinned person, we knew it would be difficult to make her look scary because, the makeup used on a light skin colour is more pronounced and seen effectively than on a dark skin colour, therefore we looked researched what time of make up our character should wear which will make her appearance come across as bizarre but also poignant. An example of this is the image of the black witch from the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' sequel. As you can see, she seems scary but also elegant this is the time of image we are looking to achieve, we have also look into the exorcist make up tutorial which encourages us to artistically paint scars on our characters face.

I really like the design of the bloody mary theme that the girl has used. It is quick and very scary, the use of coloured eye shadow makes her look like a dead corpse and therefore the make up is effective. However, one thing i would change is that there is too much blood on her face, which made it look fake and not as scary as it could potentially be.
Hair
This video is more in relation to our theme, our makeup is not to bloody or scary but it has a feel of horror in it. Although this is the kind of makeup we are going for we will only use this as a template and make some changes it as we need to make our actor look more young as in this video she looks quite older.
Hair
As our actor is a young girl we came up with the idea to have her hair back combed and messy, this gives an impression hat she isn't well looked after.
This video shows the technique of backcombing hair. from this we are able to see how we will style our actresses hair. the big and messy hair gives a feel of the girl been evil as she chooses not to look after herself. although this is a good video our actress is afro carribean so the outcome of her hair will be different but will be just as thick as of the girl in this video.

Our trailer consists of one actor , which will be the main protagonist for our whole teaser trailer, the only costume we have asked our actor to bring in is a modern day nightdress, since our teaser trailers era is based in 2012-2013. With this nightdress we have decided to decorate it with blood and stains to give an effect of a possessive young female. We will need two nightdresses a clean one and then the stained bloody nightdress to show a transformation between the good child and a possessed child.
We have also looked into buying a night dress which reduces the hassle of staining one of our actors personal garments. Below is an image of the costume we were deliberating to buy online.

I’ve also been looking at costumes we may use for out trailer, seeing as it is a school girl we can use uniform or we can go for the normal horror costumes which would be stained clocks and stuff ! I’ve put some pictures in this email so you can get an idea of what I’m talking about.
Obviously our film is not like this so we will not be implementing the knife. But the pigtails and blooded hands may be a good idea for our trailer.
